Mixed signals.

So today I am on my way to lunch, minding my own business. I had had a bottle of sweet tea in my locker that was about half empty so I decided to take it with me. I have had a sore throat for awhile so I took a drink finishing it off, and a teacher stops me telling me no drinks are allowed in the hallways. Okay seems fair and I was finished with my drink anyways so I pitched the bottle and kept on walking to the cafeteria.
Then it donned on me. The teacher who made the comment about the drink had just started taking the cap off of her water bottle, and the teacher next to her had a massive cup in her hand.
I shared this incident with another teacher and she said they were teachers and could do whatever they wanted. Except for wear casual jeans.
This got me thinking. Rules are rules, correct? A school is full of rules and if you attend that school you are expected to abide by them. Weather you are a teacher or a student. If I'm expected to keep my language clean the same should go for you. If I am expected to be respectful to other teachers the same should go for you. If there are no food or drinks allowed in the hallway then you should not be standing there drinking your water, and eating your crackers. It doesn't matter if you are a 62 year old teacher or a 14 year old student. Keep the rule the same. You telling me to throw away my drink while you are opening the cap on yours, would be like both of us on our smoke break and you giving me a lecture about how it is bad for me, and to quit now.
All I am going to do is laugh at your face, and wonder if you understand how dumb you really do look.
